How?

How does one even try to begin to summarize the life of another. I feel really strange blogging about something so personal, but also want to share with the world.

Mike's dad passed on April 5th. I just spent 2 weeks with the Warren family, most of it in New Jersey. Mike came home for a week and is already back to Iraq.

My father in law was really quite a character! He was a pretty intense person and really left a huge mark on everyone he came across. I can't imagine that anyone that's ever met him could forget him :) He was hysterically funny when he had no intent on being funny, found passion in motorcycles and photography, was insanely abnormally proud of his sons and bragged to everyone he met about their successes, loved his grandchildren and really was very gracious and loving in his own ways. We didn't (don't) have children for him to brag about but he would talk about the dogs instead. :) You will never meet a prouder man in your life. He was fiercely loyal to his family, friends and beliefs. He either loved you or he didn't, there was really no in between. I'm not really sure why, but I had the privilege of being one of the ones he really loved. We had a special relationship and I will miss him immensely. I'll miss his laughter. He usually laughed hysterically at things I wouldn't normally find funny but his laughter was contagious. He would get that twinkle in his blue eyes and you just knew he was happy. Those are moments I will always remember.

I'm the newest member to the Warren family (with the exception of one grandchild) and have spent the least amount of time with him and I'm so very grateful for the few good years I did have. And in those few short years, the memories just keep flowing. I'm so glad I at least have that. My blog about him here will never do him justice.

His last year of life was a rough one and though he had days when he just wanted to throw in the towel, he kept fighting. Even if he didn't have the energy or will, he did it for his boys. That's all he ever thought about...his boys.

I miss you dad, and hope you know how much I loved you. You fought hard and your boys are proud.
